Don't MotoGP bikes lay down like 200hp though? They probably need a pretty big contact patch to keep that much power under control.

I think the RC211v is putting down close to 230hp

As for the 190... If the 190/55 was more accessible I'd run one in a heart beat. But I'd stick with my 180/55 over a 190/50 for street/track use.

Keep in mind that those guys are running 16.5 inch wheels.
              It's a totally different set up/profile etc than a 190 or 200/17

                Profiles

I read something about this on one of the MotoGP or Superbike sites. They were running some bigger rims but in some instances guys were rolling on 200/60's.

Remember width and height go hand in hand when assessing tires.

They are limited to 6.25" rims in MotoGP and probably a few other classes as well.

                  You'll see the 16.5" rim size as a 420 I think. i.e 190/55-420 or something like that.

REad the latest sportrider review/comparison between the rc51, mille and 999.

when they switched from the stock 190 to a 180/55 on the 999, its handling went to crap. it was on a 5.5" wide rear rim though, and ours are 6". not quite sure what to make of this, but found it interesting none the less.

the only 190 tires i'd use on the track is a 190/55. AFAIK pirelli supercorsas are the only mfr. who makes them in those sizes.

I've got Rennsport 190/55 in the RS2 on right now for another upcoming trackday at California Speedway. I changed for more piece of mind in the contact patch and I haven't noticed any change in the turn in speed. Love the Renns! They are expensive though. I will most likely go to the Diablo's next.

                          Here's what I've been using on 16.5" wheels ..

I tried a 75 aspect ratio this last weekend and couldn't tell a whole lot of difference.

I've been running 190/55 Supercorsa's for my track days. They feel just like a 180 to me. Kinda pricey though...
