  • Going to look at a TLR, questions

    Hey fellas,

I'm going to go look at the 99 TLR that I have been talking about tonight. Is there anything that you TLR owners know any specific questions I should ask?

    Any ideas would be great!!!

    Thanks!

    buying a TLR

Clear title? Is there a loan on it now? Does it come with any extra plastics? Are you the first owner? If not how many miles did you put on it (track & street)?
Just a few I would ask.
    I know nothing about bikes.

Ask if they have any service records, what kind of mods they have done. I always try to get them talking about rides they have been on or where they ride just to get an idea of how they treated the bike. A squid who trashes his bike will usually spill his guts on how he used to ride hard as long as he has someone to brag to!

Does he have a sister, what does she look like, is she single?

the above all sound good. Might look at the cahin to see if it is clean and or worn. This may not be a good indicator because some take good care of the rest of the bike but neglect the chain. but if it has several thousand miles on it and the chain and sprockets are in good shape then chances are the rest of it is too.

            Check the fork seals.

Hold the front brake and rock the bike back and forth.

Like mentioned above, the chain is a good indication of if the owner cared for his bike or not.

Check for scarring on the rotors.

Check the bolts for safety wire holes..

There was a ton of mods on it, so double check everything. bring a flashlight and get up in there..
