ok, i have come to the conclusion that i have a rod knock and something loose in my front head. this means no good. does anyone here know where i can get a rebuild kit or something even like a performance rebuild kit? and how much would it run me to "build" my motor? my buddy tlxsess was telling me that a bunch of you guys have gone this route such as a guy named art davis? thanks in advance for all your suggestions guys -jason

I sure would dig into it first before planning a rebuild. It may only be a cam chain knocking or something.Kevin -
it may not be a rod knock. The only way is to find out for sure is to dig in. At the very least pull the valve cover and check the decompression lever on the cam. make sure the spring isnt broken or stretched etc....
On 'building' your motor... do it half assed it wont cost much. Prolly wont run very good either. If you go the Art Davis route... if you dont know what you are doing and pay someone to do it... it will cost some money.

Or you could always by a used motor replace in your frame and take you time to rebuild what you have.

well,I geuss I'll have to see what's wrong with it,but I'm probably gonna do the wrenching myself,everything minus boring or sleeving,and I'll have to get a shop to do the heads ........thanks guys.....I'm really slow to reply,I've been rather busy lately with my old hot rod car..........so I'll reply and post whenever I get spare time.........................Jason Morristlpower!Comment
