  • Don't wear out your welcome!

So here I am on my favorite twisty road, already completed two passes and on my way back through from the third one and as I round the blind left hander I see about 40 fuggin Goats and a Donkey in the road about 40 yards ahead. I'm doing about 75 in a full lean pucker factor x12.
Anyways I got it slowed down in time and the goats and donkey are going apeshit trying to get out of the way. I look to the left where half the herd was heading and there's the proud owner smiling his ass off, guess he got tired of me having too much fun and he let his gate open to fugg with me.
Guess I wore out my welcome today, gotta respect the locals.

Too bad if he had killed you. Gotta respect the locals, they gotta respect a public road.

My sis's ex boyfriend is a cowboy, yup a real Texas cowboy with a ranch, beef cattle, southern drawl and the whole deal.

Once, they were on thier way home from dinner when he got a call from his dad saying one of the cows got loose. He stood on to go pedal and got back as soon as possible, in a BIG rush. Why? If the cow got on the road and caused an accident (or worse) they would be liable since it was their cow; they could even lose the ranch.

Not that you were being a model citizen on the bike or anything , but purposely doing somehting like that is like cutting someone's brake lines. If anything happened to you, it would have been his a$$ (the fact he did it on purpose would only get him in more sh*t).

Sorry for preahcing a bit, but that does erk me.

I beleive even though no accident was caused it is still considered "reckless endangerment" here and you should have turned HIM in. Between me and my two bros we have alot of experience with the law.

Maybe you should have talked to him, turning him in would just make him call the cops on you, but if you stop, and politly talk to him, maybe you can reach an agrement about keeping the number of pass's down or somthing, so that you are both realitivly

Is the area designated "free range"? In Texas that would excuse them from a great deal of the liability... (And yes, there are roads that go through free range cattle ranches).

But yah, respect the locals helps. We try and keep our passes on a particular road down for that and PoPo reasons...

No roads worth a second pass here....except Wildcat Mtn.
                        So...no big deal...

We made a few passes through there again today, on the way back he was out by the road and we were going pretty slowly compared to the norm and we wave to him and he gives us one of these I almost fell off the bike from laughing because it reminded me of the welcome I received here in the beginning.
I don't plan on stopping by and talking with him, but I do take my old 87 3/4 ton Van out that way occasionally since the goat incident.
Sorry to say no goat for the barbie yet

i thought you said it was a donkey

oh yeah, goat meat is a little tough, but it would taste extremely well if you actually picked one off with your truck. well, if you add some barbeque sauce
