  • finally (my very own TLS!)

Well I secured the deal on my new TL-S!

its a 97, red with 10k miles on it and a frozen engine.

I got it from a guy I met online, he bought it as a project to rebuild and never did anything with it. it has a clean title, complete extra set of body work and two boxes full of random TLS stuff that the guy accrued over the years..

I got it for a disgustingly cheap price too..

So I'm going to have the motor rebuilt by my mechanic sometime this coming month and was wondering what all mods I should do to the engine while its apart to get the best out of this engine.

I'm really considering the 1080 cc big bore kit but i have some concerns about getting the jetting and everything right for it.

the bike also has a full akro system on it.

big bore kit, full akro system, then what?

Any help is appreciated. .. Minus the bigbore kit, i've got about $2000 i can spend in the motor and handling. but I've got a track bike F4i that i use for racing, so i don't want to spend it all on suspension..

this forum rocks, its nice to have a dedicated forum for TL's!

Welcome to the Planet! Happy that you have joined our ranks...

Some one is going to say it so I might as well be the one:

Oh I can't forget the official welcome:

well i had saved up $4000 for a new twin, so $1000 of it went towards the bike, $2000 of it is going to the engine and $1000 left for mods..

                      Welcome Cale

A nice set of Yoshi cams would probably leave a disgustingly huge grin on your face and your wallet $600 emptier. Thos in combination with a big bore kit...WOW.

BTW, no jetting with your new TL, the Power Commander is your friend.

IMHO, get the motor to work and leave it as stock as you can beside a PCII or something. You've got the #1 exhaust on it, it should have enough power to keep you grinning.

Then spend the extra leftover motor money and your upgrade money on some decent suspension mods for it.

Get it handling really well first, then worry about spending more money on the performance of the engine.
