  • CPU fan on TLR rectifier.........

I was told of a mod to put a largish cpu type fan on the rectifier to help cool it.After a days ride,my rectifier was pretty hot.

Anyway,I`ve got a 3.6" square fan(12 volt),50 cfm, that draws 20Ma(.20 amps) and would like to wire it so that it turns off when the key is off.Should I run the wires up to the ignition switch?.

For the TLR, there should be an empty plug up the front near the headlight that is used for a parking light in some markets, it's only hot when the ignition is on believe. Use that or splice into the fuel pump relay, in the same place you would for an ATRE, I only have pics and the location for an "S" though.

This mod has been around for years with Suzuki GS owners. I've heard it helps keep rectifyers alive. Can't hurt anything, but the noise could get annoying.

Move yours to inside the airbox, I'm sure a shot of nitros will cool it down.

I would say splice the license plate light instead of the fuel pump:dunno

Those fans draw bugger all current, not enough to affect anything.

What is this noise you speak of...I don't think it would be noticable...due to the exhaust...you are running after market exhaust...
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

How about a water cooling system? You could really overclock that puppy!

The noise the fan puts out is 34dB (A).I guarantee I wont hear the fan over my Yosh RS-3 full race anyway .

                              Hmmm...OK

Laugh, but I'd notice it there. A high-speed CPU fan will make noise, especially when placed on the small fins of the rectifier in an enclosed space. Depending on the fan, it could sound like your fuel pump constantly priming.
