  • Change your sprockets

A fellow TLP member (who will remain nameless) brought his TLR to my house for new sprockets and chain. Here's his old sprocket:

Don't let them get this bad. New sprockets are cheap.

Oh dear, confession time, I once wore a sprocket out on my VT250 so badly, but it was the opposite, all the teeth were there, but they were so far bent that I couldn't push the bike backwards as the chain would just hook up.

I don't think digi cams were invented back then thank goodness.

Some people don't realize how dangerous that is-COME ON GUYS/GIRLS LETS HEAR SOME HORROR STORIES ABOUT CHAINS AND SPROCKETS BREAKING!
We all have one or have heard one!
My dad let the chain go so long on his 650 Special that it snapped and locked up the wheel while he was doing 55mph. Tried his best to keep it under control, but ended up sliding into the curb and laying it on its side. Trashed the whole right side of the bike and he got some nasty rode rash. He ended up selling it and hasn't been on a bike since.
