  • How much power

    Hey Guys,

I am new here and I just did the K&N filter and Fuel Remap with my yosh slip-ons. What kind of power do you think I should be puting to the rear wheel?

Another thing what do you think I should do next to feel some power? My bike feels a little slow.

    Hey,
I did the same thing with mine, aside from the remap, and I lost that hard shove that lofts the wheel in 1st at around 8g rpm, however I talked to the mechanic that tuned it and then got him to take it for a ride, and he said it felt ok. He said that some times the power curve may be flattened out by mods, which would explain the bike feeling slower. The only way to be sure is to take it to a dyno and get it tuned on there. As I am going to do, cause I am a skeptical bastard at times and want cold hard facts baby! Failing that go and spend 30 bucks on a -1 tooth front sprocket. I have a mate who was commenting on my midrange compared to his (both tlr's) , he dropped a tooth and he reckons he cant keep the front wheel on the ground now!

    hope that helps

      thanks

I think that helps but I would really like to know what happens when you get it on the dyno and post some numbers.

      Thanks

You might get a 3-4hp gain with said mods. probably low 120's

But you lost a few pounds at the same time:dunno

Get a new map, or buy a PCII

If you want a kick in the ass get a 41tooth sprocket

Top mod, I went 16/40... They are too overgeared in stock form.

How would expect the performance to be with just mild gearing changes? Say a 39 or 40 tooth rear sproket? And what sort of top speed could you expect then?
Don't cha know the Yellow one's are fastest!

I just reflected on how much people are looking at maxium power i mean thats normally just on the top of the rev curve (product from torque and rpm)

I would rather look on the torque on the way up where i normally use the power. But ofcourse higher top power will hopfully result in higher figures down in the register but not necessery.

There should be an index based on the total "normally working window" instead - or is it just me?
                  Twins are twice as fun

If the bike is feeling slow with the mods you just made, I suggest the same as the others: a TRE (timing retarder eliminator) and work on your fuel curve. The 41T rear sprocket mod is very very good. Even a 40T will give you a little more snap.

I have only used Dynojet Power Commanders to adjust fuel curves, so I don't know anything about the Yosh box. The PCII is a great tool and can be fine tuned to get your bike runnin just how you want it.

                    Good luck,
                    Your Friend in Sport,

                    Edwin

Could'nt put it better myself. Thats the whole argument over twins versus I4's. Most HiPo I4's only do better on the track where they can stay up in the powerband most of the time and take advantage of that peak hp figure. With a TL no matter what gear your in, you are always in band.

From what little i know the TRE thing would be good and drop a tooth on the front. For less than $100 you'll notice a bigger gain than all that you have done to this point. So far a 520 with -1F,+2 R has held up nicely for 11,000 miles on my bike.

                            TRE

I have heard a lot about the TRE (first time was recently), and I was wondering if it is compatible when running a PCII or TFI?
Be good, and if you can't be good...be really, REALLY bad!!
