  • Who knows what the ignition issue with PC2's is?

Not entirely TL related but I am having major issues recently with my GSXR. When riding the ignition has developed this habit of stopping the ignition and really fuc**ng up my riding/safety. My TLS has never had any such issues (yet) but I dont really know where to start.

My first two thoughts are either a faulty kicksatnd safety switch or the ignition circuit of the PC2.

So who out there knows EXACTLY what the issues with the first generation PC2's was for Suzuki bikes? What would happen, and under what circumstances, to require Dynojet to disable the IGN circuit?

    Thanks guys and gals.

Yeah. Annoying as all hell too. Me and my guys took a trip out to LaCrosse this weekend and were riding the twisty stuff along the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers VERY HARD. I cant tell you how scary it is to be in a full tuck and lean riding style doing 120+MPH in curvy stuff and have you ignition shut off multiple times on the trip. I may just try disconnecting the PC2 and see if the problem goes away and if it doesnt I will know my issues lie elsewhere but I would still like to know if anyone has had firsthand experience with this IGN problem.

I don't have that experience but sound's like a failing connection or if this is something common on all PC2's it there might be a Firmware fuckup..

As i got it the PC2 takes in the pulses from the ECU as triggers in time, then reproduce them in extended or shortend form to tweak in order to get a leaner/richer mixture.

from a firmware point of view; I can imagine there would be a calculation to scale the pulses then you have sequential interrups for each pulse. Is the problem mainly at high RPM's or when going to high RPM's?

Anyone who know if there are any SW field updates for PCII?

Frank, I believe all the PCII's that are sent back to have the ignition circuit disabled is because of the weak signal that comes from the Suzuki CKP sensor.

(The mod is probably just a bridge so the CKP goes straight to the ECU and isn't seen by the PC2.)

Check the gap of your CKP sensor, and close it up if possible and see what happens. It is strange that it used to be OK and now it is not, so close that gap up and see what happens.

This isn't gospel, but it's what I've pieced together over the years from reading about the problem.

I know you probably already checked this, but have you checked the battery cable? My bike would cut out mid corner or at various other highly inconvenient moments and it turned out to just be a loose battery cable. It might save you a big headache.

No, but I am always known to check the easiest possible problem last so as to create bigger headaches for myself. I suppose I should check it.
